Due to a late fall and lack of volunteers to help put in the trail signs this season, the northern loop of the Rural Cass Snowmobile Club trail will not be opened this season.

This trail connects the communities of Amenia, Arthur, Argusville, and Harwood. Trail closed signs will be posted in Casselton and Mapleton to indicate that this trail is not open; the trail also will not be groomed.

The club did not meet the Dec. 15 trail signing deadline required by Snowmobile North Dakota. This means the club will not receive about 1/3 of the typical funding from Snowmobile ND, and the club will be put on probation with Snowmobile ND for a year.

At the next club meeting, discussions will begin on how to ensure the trail can be opened next year. More active club members will be required or more ideas on how to ensure the work gets done each fall.

Remaining club meetings this year are Tuesday, Jan 14, Tuesday, Feb 11 and Tuesday, March 11. Meetings are held at 7 PM at the Pizza Ranch in Casselton. Please consider making time to attend one of these meetings and offer your ideas and suggestions.
