Get trail updates as text messages

Snowmobilers in the Fargo and rural Cass areas have the opportunity to get trail and grooming updates on their mobile phones this season, using the latest text messaging technologies.

“We are always looking for ways to communicate with snowmobilers, and text messaging is an easy way to get the word out,” says Troy Klevgard, president of the Rural Cass Snowmobile Club. “We will use text messages to let you know trail opening and closing information, as well as announce when we’ve finished grooming that week.”

If you are interested in the Rural Cass Snowmobile Club trail updates (Casselton, Leonard, Arthur, Harwood, Mapleton), send keyword “ruralcass” to 46986.

You can also get updates on SnowJam 2010 and the Snowmobile North Dakota State Ride by texting “snowjam” to 46986. SnowJam is the area’s premier snowmobiling event, featuring a trail ride, vintage snowmobile display, tons of prizes and a fun evening event.

Pictures from the week: Putting up signs on the northern loop

Several members of the Rural Cass Snowmobile Club were out Friday and Saturday to work on putting up the trail signs on the northern loop of the snowmobile trail. Here are some pictures as the work progressed.  Sounds like the signs are all up except between Argusville and Mapleton and the trail inspection by Snowmobile North Dakota has been scheduled for late this week.

Those helping sign this weekend included Keith Blixt, Jeff Seifert, Eric Hanson, Tom Bovee, Troy Klevgard, Sheila Klevgard and Greg Strommen.
