New warming house under construction

Work is underway on a new warming house for the Rural Cass Snowmobile Club. This new warming house is 16 x 20 feet and will be located along the northern edge of the rural Cass trail, about seven miles east of Arthur. It is only accessibly by snowmobile.

Club members are planning a grand opening for the new warming house later this year. Watch the club website for further details.

A huge thanks to the volunteers that helped construct the new warming house, including Troy, Sheila, Derek and Jared Klevgard, Casselton; Keith and Bette Blixt, Gardner; Greg Strommen, Fargo, Todd McMichael, Fargo and Char Gust, Casselton.

The materials for the warming house will be about $4,000. If you want to make a donation to help pay for constructions costs, please send your donations to Rural Cass Snowmobile Club, PO Box 28, Casselton, ND 58012.

Volunteers logging many hours on local snowmobile trails

Volunteers are the secret to the success of the Rural Cass Snowmobile Club. We’ve estimated that nearly 830 volunteer hours annually in 2010/2011 helped make our club a strong asset to Snowmobile North Dakota.

Having an active club helps drive the number up, with club meetings and state convention high in the list, but also note that posting, maintaining and removing trail signs is a significant volunteer effort.

Get Trail Updates as Text Messages

Snowmobilers in the Fargo and rural Cass areas will have the opportunity to get trail and grooming updates on their mobile phones this season, using the latest text messaging technologies.

“Nowadays, we’re using texts everyday for other communication, so it only makes sense that we’d text you with snowmobile trail updates,” says Jason McSparron, president of the Rural Cass Snowmobile Club. “We will use text messages to let you know trail opening and closing information, as well as announce when we’ve finished grooming that week.”

If you are interested in the Rural Cass Snowmobile Club trail updates (Casselton, Leonard, Arthur, Harwood, Mapleton), send keyword “ruralcass” to 46986.

You can also get updates on SnowJam 2012 by texting “snowjam” to 46986. SnowJam is the area’s premier snowmobiling event, featuring a trail ride, vintage snowmobile display, tons of prizes and a fun evening event. Learn more about SnowJam at www.snowjam.org.
